Legislative Updates

The Humble ISD Legislative Committee met on Dec. 1, 2010 to begin their important work for the district. Their message to the community? Get Involved!

The involvement of our community is vitally important to the success of this committee’s work, and Board Legislative Committee Chairman Robert Scarfo spoke to the group about our need to have them become well informed on the issues, and to get others to act with us in communicating with our state elected officials. The legislative goals of the committee are:

  • To prevent TEA from recapturing $17.8 million in state aid
  • To prevent cuts to the State Foundation School Program
  • To prevent shifting of current state costs to local school district
  • To prevent any new unfunded mandates by the state
